Calling all young dancers! The DSO and Von Heidecke’s Chicago Festival Ballet will be holding auditions for our Nutcracker performance on December 7th. Auditions will be on Sunday, October 19th in the 3rd floor conference rooms (302 & 306) in Vermilion Hall at Danville Area Community College.
Spooktacular—Magic, Mystery, and murder!
Friday, October 31, 2025, 7:00 pm, Dick Van Dyke Auditorium (DHS)
Join the Danville Symphony Orchestra and Danville High School Orchestra Halloween Night for our 2nd annual Spooktacular concert! Come in costume, enjoy some treats, and help figure out who the murderer is in The Composer is Dead, a fun, interactive piece by Nathaniel Stookey with text by Lemony Snicket. Other pieces that will be performed are Charles Gounod’s The Funeral March of a Marionette, J.S. Bach’s Toccata and Fugue in D minor, Lin-Manuel Miranda’s Selections from Encanto, and Modest Mussorgsky’s Night on Bald Mountain.
Jack-o’-Lantern Contest
We will be having a Jack-o’-Lantern contest before the Spooktacular concert on October 31st! Bring a carved or decorated pumpkin and you will receive 1/2 off your concert tickets. Individuals, groups, and families are all welcomed to participate. Pumpkins will be displayed on stage during the concert.
$15,000 Match Challenge!
The DSO is a proud recipient of a $15,000 Anonymous Title Concert Sponsorship for our Origin Stories concert on September 27th. Our anonymous donor has presented us with a challenge. If we can raise another $15,000 between now and our performance of The Nutcracker on December 7th, they will match it with another $15,000—bringing in a total of $45,000! Please consider giving your gift during this time period so that your gift may be doubled! We cannot do what we do without our generous donors. LET’S RAISE MONEY!
